Tro pond was discovered in the summer of 1923, two French informants discovered this archaeological site, the Tro pond is the name of a freshwater lake located between the coastal sand-hills, in the northeast of Dong Hoi Township. Here, the primitive people have been resident around the lake for a long time. Traces of ancient people have sunk gradually in the sand.

Tro pond is located in Hai Thanh ward in Dong Hoi city today, Legend has it that is was a cleanest freshwater pond, more than well-water of the people people in the area. Without water plants, the Dong Hoi people often drink from Bao Ninh’s water.
